چکیده

We report a new technique with which X-ray absorption measurements of solutions can be made by counting the X-ray induced luminescence from the sample. This technique (scintillation yield) involves the addition of a small amount of scintillator to the sample solution. Simultaneous measurements of X-ray absorption spectra of (CH ) Sn in organic scintillator solutions using photoconductivity and 3 4 scintillation yield are reported to illustrate the feasibility of this technique.

1083 Energy Transfer in Organic Systems I 1 : Solute - Solute Transfer in Liquid Solutions

Solute-solute intermolecular energy transfer has been studied in the ternary solution system toluene-TP (p-terpheny1)-TPB (1, l', 4,4'-tetraphenyl-butadiene) with a T P concentration of 2.17 x 10-2M, and T P B concentrations from 1.5 x lop6 M to 6 x M, using excitation wavelengths from 285 mp to 365 mp. The behaviour is described quantitatively by competition between radiative transfer, which p...

Assessment of Quench Indicating Parameters (QIP) of an Alternative Scintillation Cocktail Mixture by Low Level Liquid Scintillation Counting

The evolution of the accurate, precise measurements and applied research in the nuclear field is entailed to the development of the new types of liquid scintillation cocktail, which have determined different technological applications in several areas. Aiming to reach this goal, the low-cost, suitable chemical composition, significant scintillation efficiency and high alpha-beta discrimination ...

Liquid-Scintillation Counting of 14C-Labelled Animal Tissues

Developments of liquid-scintillation counting as a practical method for the assay of radioisotopes in biological samples followed work by Reynolds, Harrison & Salvini (1950) and Kailmann & Furst (1950). Reviews of progress and developments in liquid-scintillation counting have been given by Davidson & Fiegelson (1957) and Bell & Hayes (1958). Guinn (1958) and Stitch (1959) have reviewed the adv...

Evaluation of Interferences on Measurements of 90 Sr / 90 Y by the TDCR Čerenkov Counting Technique

Over the last few decades many techniques have been developed for determination of Sr/Y in the environment. Čerenkov counting technique (developed in the 1960s) is widely used, but can be further developed by the application of emerging technologies. For example, it is believed that the application of the triple-to-double coincidence ratio (TDCR) liquid scintillation counting method can be used...

Use of Triton X-100 scintillant in a simple method for the simultaneous assay of 55Fe and 59Fe by liquid scintillation counting.

A method is described using Triton X-100 scintillant to simplify liquid scintillation counting of (55)Fe alone or in combination with (59)Fe. The Triton acts as an efficient solubilizing agent allowing small volumes of aqueous solutions of iron compounds in hydrochloric acid to be counted. The efficiencies achieved are comparable with those of previously described methods whilst the technique i...
